Accidents are preventable. They often result in property damage, bodily harm, lost productivity, or death. It is in the interest of our employees, our customers, and Hayes Mechanical to take all possible measures to reduce the number of accidents to zero.
It is the policy of Hayes Mechanical to provide a safe work place for all employees and to expect safe and professional performance from each of them. We will take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of employees, clients, and visitors from injury. We will provide safety training and education as required to make employees aware of work place hazards and to prepare them to identify and prevent accidents.
Primary responsibility for safety rests with the Corporate Safety Manager whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to, education, training, development of accident prevention procedures, accident recording, facility inspection, fire prevention and state and federal code compliance.
The Hayes Mechanical Corporate Safety Manual was originally created in 1987. Today the Corporate Safety Manual is in its 5th edition with most policies in their 3rd or 4th revision. Hayes currently has six core policies with thirty-six topic specific policies as they relate to safety.
Hayes Mechanical conducts a four hour new hire orientation for all employees. All supervisors must go through the supervisors’ course to run work for Hayes Mechanical. All supervisors have gone through OSHA 30 and all field employees have had OSHA 10. All full time employees must comply with our monthly online safety training program. Each employee must complete the assigned course for that assigned month with a minimum passing score of 80% to maintain compliance. Currently Hayes has established 37 training courses for our employees. In addition to our full time employees, our transient workforce has orientation, site specific, daily toolbox talks, and weekly safety meetings. Hayes Mechanical’s training philosophy is; Leaders aren’t born, they’re created, meaning the better training and education our workforce receives the better decisions they’ll make when it comes time. Employees must be confident in the training they receive for it to correlate to the field.
Hayes Mechanical recognizes the importance of ensuring their employees come to work fit for duty. Hayes Mechanical has instituted a drug and alcohol free workforce to all their employees. Employees who come to work for Hayes Mechanical must comply with pre-employment, post incident, random, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
